01 · The work

What I bring the most value to.

I work on strategic design and service design at the points where strategy is still being formed: new propositions, new operating models, transformation programmes that have to commit before they're fully knowable. The work is part research, part synthesis, part facilitation, and a lot of tentatively shaping propositions and portfolios so a leadership team can make a decision they can stand behind six months later.

The frame I use most often is to describe service design as routing across People, Platforms, Policy and Process. It's disarming in conversation — it gives a finance director, a regulatory lead and a product head a shared way of placing what the work is and isn't. The question is never which four are equal; it's which the current decision actually depends on, and which are downstream.

02 · AI & craft

AI in the loop where it adds leverage. Out of it where it would dilute the work.

Everyone needs a stand on AI, and mine is that in strategic design it's an operational reality, not a theoretical possibility. I use it deliberately as a challenging and sharpening tool on the workstreams where the dataset and the stakes allow — and not as a generative shortcut, or on the workstreams where they don't. Judgment, voice and craft stay on the human side of the line. Leverage comes from tools that make that judgment sharper, not faster at the wrong thing.

03 · The path

The short version.

Trained at the Glasgow School of Art and the Institute of Design Innovation, with a spell at the Bauhaus in Weimar. Fourteen years in practice across agencies and in-house — including Principal Service Designer at Foolproof, Lead Service Designer at rehab, and Design Director at MOHARA. Independent as Sunart Works since 2022, working as an Associate with agencies like Nile and CreateFuture, and directly with clients like NatWest Group and Pulsant.

04 · A note from a client
"This work resulted in the transformation of the way we deliver monetisation strategy for the largest gaming console community in the world."
VP, Digital Commerce, PlayStation
05 · Facilitation Studio

An adjacent practice — and a working artefact of the AI-in-the-loop position.

In parallel I run Facilitation Studio — a publishing and coaching practice on facilitation craft. Its operating model is itself a piece of AI-augmented design work: a chain of skills I've built to make a fortnightly cadence sustainable while running full client engagements. It's a working artefact of the broader thesis, not a content-marketing project. The voice and the judgment are mine; the AI is in the loop where it adds leverage.
